A sub-project in the Social-Emotional Needs area is the "care packages" program, which was the original impetus of The LOOK Project. In this program, each child in an orphanage is sent a few age-appropriate gifts packaged together for their individual use (e.g. small toy, a baseball cap, hair ribbons or barrettes, a new toothbrush, and/or a writing notepad with pen). Each care package also includes a translated notecard that tells the child in both English and Mandarin that there are people from across the world who are thinking of them and wishing them well, and that encourages them to apply themselves to their studies.
