An Qing, Anhui Province
An Qing orphanage, in Anhui Province, has 170 resident children, 36 of whom are between the age of 7 and 18 years old. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, including Raising Hope International, we were able to fund the following urgent needs for the children of this SWI.
Medical/Physical Needs: - 5 stock units of anti-diarrhea medicine for when the children are ill. - 2 stock units of anti-viral/cold medicine for when the children are ill. - medical examination costs, including blood work, for 7 older children. - 4 basic wheelchairs for non-ambulatory children. - 8 training potty chairs for more severely impaired older special needs children. - 1 pair of orthopedic shoes. - 1 pair of crutches. - special medical treatment including physiotherapy for 2 special needs children to help reduce convulsions. - orthopedic rehabilitation equipment for 1 child. - beds and mattresses for 4 older children. - 1 new pair of shoes for each of 36 older children. - 1 new clothes outfit for each of 36 older children.
Education/Training Needs: - 10 backpacks for the children to carry their schoolbooks. - schoolbooks for 8 children at $12.50 each for a total of $100. - 6 electronic machines used to record/read/translate in helping the children to learn languages. - 1 computer for the older children to study on.
Social/Emotional Needs: - 1 bicycle for the children to ride for recreation (funded by RHI). - 1 radio for the children's recreational needs. - group and individual sports equipment for the recreational needs of 14 older children (funded by RHI).
Thus, The LOOK Project supplied funds for needs requested by for a total U.S. dollar equivalent amount of $3,897.50. Pictures of some of the items purchased for An Qing orphanage can be found on the Pictures page of this website.
