Henan Province

Luo He, An Yang, Xin Xiang, Xin Yang, Kai Feng, Jiao Zuo, He Pi, Pu Yang, and Pind Ding San Orphanages in Henan Province 

A LOOK special project.

It has recently been brought to our attention that most of the orphanages in Henan province are very, very poor and thus the children extremely needy.  This is because, for various reasons, there are few or no international adoptions that have taken place from these orphanages and thus they don't receive an influx of funds from adoption fees as other orphanages do.  In some orphanages in Henan, the children can't even attend school, only because they don't have adequate clothing and school suppies.  For this reason, the LOOK Project has chosen to make the above list of the most needy Henan orphanages a special focus in 2009.  We are currently fundraising for the following items (shown in approximately equivalent U.S. dollars) for older children residing in these orphanages: 

Physical Needs:    

1.  150 shower towels, at $8 each (total =$1200)                                                                                     2.   200 hand/face towels, at $2 each (total = $400)                                                                                  3.   200 clothes outfits, at $18 each (total = $3600)                                                                                  4.   200 pairs of socks, at $2 each (total = $400                                                                                       5.   200 pairs of basic shoes, at $10 each (total = $2000)                                                                      6.   200 pairs of underwear, at $1 each (total - $200)                                                                              7.   200 toothbrushes, at $1 each (total = $200)                                                                                        8.   200 water cups, at $2 each (total = $400)                                                                                            9.   200 winter hats, at $6 each (total = 1200)                                                                                         10.  200 pairs of winter gloves, at $5 each (total = $1,000)

Education Needs:    

1.  150 school backpacks/bookbags, at $10 each (total = $1500)                                                        2.   200 sets of school supplies, at $5 each (total = $1,000)                                                                  3.   100 child-sized wristwatches, at $10 each (total = $1000)                                                              4.   50 bicycles for the children to ride to school (and for exercise), at $25 each (total = $1250)
